Volunteers are needed in various capacities during the year in conjunction with the Religious Education Program. For CCD, we welcome volunteers of all ages who have received the Sacrament of Confirmation. For VBS we accept volunteers of all ages starting with the 6th grade and older. Youth may use volunteer time as service hours.

All volunteers (18 years of age or older), including catechists and aides, who work with minors are required to attend a mandatory training called "VIRTUS".

VIRTUS

Child sexual abuse is a worldwide public health issue. Child abuse, particularly child sexual abuse, is reprehensible - especially when the wrongdoer is affiliated with the Church. The VIRTUS program assists the Church in being a safe haven for children and a messenger for preventing child sexual abuse within the Church and society in general. We seek to achieve this lofty goal through our child sexual abuse prevention program:  Protecting God's Children.

Anyone who will have contact with the children here at Sacred Heart MUST be VIRTUS trained. That includes volunteering in any capacity to include CCD, Youth Group, serving during the Mass, and more.
